The Forts of New France: The Great Lakes Review: The Forts of New France: The Great Lakes, the Plains and the Gulf Coast 1600-1763 (Fortress). This book is a great addition to the Forts of New France series. As with all the "Fort" titles, the illustrations alone are worth the price of purchase. I really enjoyed Rene Chartrand's text, too; as the subject matter is more narrow there is much more detail than in the "Colonial Forts of the English Colonies.." title.
